Dynaplug Carbon Racer Tubeless Repair Kit – $47.99

This tool molded of Nylon 6 plus 30% glass fill fibers which creates its Carbon black matte surface. All Dynaplug Racer tools come with 5 repair plugs, 3 Soft Tip and 2 Mega for the MTB/Gravel kit and 5 soft nose for the Road Kit. Snap on caps allow it to be deployed quickly and keep the plugs clean. Another special feature is the complimentary Carbon Silicone holder that neatly installs under the bottle cage to make the Racer easily accessible. The silicone holder weighs in at 10 grams.

Chuck Peña PEZ sez: If you’re still riding clinchers with tubes, you can skip reading this. But if you’re like me and a road tubeless convert, the Dynaplug Carbon Racer Repair Kit is easy to carry extra insurance for those instances when sealant isn’t enough to seal a puncture.

NOTE: Dynaplug sent PEZ the MTB/gravel version of the Carbon Racer Repair Kit.

What makes Dynaplug different is how it plugs punctures. Most other tubeless tire repair kits (including one that I’ve carried for thousands and thousands of miles) involve reaming out the puncture and then inserting as many “bacon strips” as needed to plug the hole. With Dynaplug, you insert a plug that has tip on the end, pull the tool away, and the plug remains in the tire. It’s not too unlike an EpiPen injector. Pictures and video to better illustrate:

So is the Dynaplug Carbon Racer Tubeless Tire Repair kit better than other more conventional tubeless tire repair kits? I honestly can’t say because I (fortunately) haven’t had to repair any of my road tubeless tires. But the push-pull system of Dynaplug seems like it should be easier/faster than having to ream out a hole and insert bacon strips to plug a puncture.

Definitely minimalist

Two things to keep in mind (one unique to Dynaplug and the other applies to all tubeless tire repair kits).

Ultimately, the Dynaplug Carbon Racer Tubeless Repair Kit (or any of their other tubeless tire repair kits) is extra insurance for those occasions when sealant can’t seal a puncture (I also always carry a spare tube because I know something like a big enough side puncture/cut can’t be repaired but that a boot and tube can get you home). I really like that it’s small and light (smaller and lighter than my other tubeless repair thingie — yes, that’s a technical term — that is hardly big or heavy) so can be easily stowed in a seat bag — or in my case, the hard drive soft case I use to carry my minimalist roadside repair stuff in my rear jersey pocket (from a bike aesthetic perspective, I eschew a seat bag and wouldn’t use the Dynaplug holder that attaches to the bottle mounts).

But as much as I think the Dynaplug Carbon Racer Tubeless Repair kit is cool and nifty, I hope I never have to use it.

From ambitious beginnings to a bold new vision for the future, each collection is inspired by a different chapter in their story.

Chapter 1The first team issue is all about stripping back the kit, reflecting the simplicity of the team’s original mission when Justin and Cory had to fight through the noise and against the odds to build their careers and become icons within a sport not set up for their success.

The collection features various symbols as part of the design, each signifying different stages of the team’s story. First and foremost is the lion, a symbol of their fighting spirit. From their hometown in south central LA, to race podiums across the country – their rise always was rooted in tenacity.

Unior Bike Tools has been selling red colored tools in the US, UK and other markets for a number of years.

Due to increasing demand and user feedback we’ve decided to effect this change globally as of the 17th of April 2023.

This is simply a cosmetic change to the handles and colored elements of our tools. There are no material changes and you can remain confident of our premium quality.

They are still ‘Made For Work’ with a limited lifetime warranty.

Important note: Unior manufactures a wide range of hand tools but only the Bike Tools are changing to red. The rest of the range stays the same.

The RC 999 capsule marks Bianchi Milano’s return to the cycling scene. RC 999 is a line designed for those who love speed and who are looking for an aerodynamic solution to improve their performance. Made with Rombo Mesh 3D fabric, the garments in this capsule are perfect for the most demanding cyclists who are on the hunt for every little watt and marginal gain. RC 999 combines the racing DNA of the Reparto Corse Bianchi (RC), with the code, 999, which was used by Bianchi from 1952 onward to number frames destined for racing. The RC 999 range is available in two color versions, both centered around the traditional Bianchi celeste.
